Tenerife Guided Walks and Hikes
Don’t just come to Tenerife, …Discover it
Guided Walks Tenerife has an extensive network of trails & footpaths where one can discover a wide range of diverse landscapes embracing Laurel and Canarian Pine forests, rugged mountains and extinct volcanoes, volcanic lava flows, moonlike deserts and rock sculptures and magnificent coastal scenery with towering cliffs.
Here are just a few of our most requested walks and treks around Tenerife
Short Description: This walk starts high in Anaga Mountains and finishes on the North coast. Leaving Cruz De Carmen we immediately plunge into dense laurel forest where our path heads downhill, In the heart of the forest where it is most humid there are many varieties of laurels.
Emerging from the forest the path opens up giving many expansive views of the surrounding mountainous area. Descending on open land through goat herding landscape we eventually come to the village of Chinamada consisting of only “Cave Houses.”An interesting stop for lunch.
The path then descends steeply down a barren valley where panoramic views of the coast can be had, at the end of the walk refreshments await!!.
Short Description: Our starting point is an attractive village in an area of great beauty.,barrancos and steep cliffs filled with many flowering plants.
Ascending a steep track with glorious views of the Las Cañadas foothills we eventually turn down into a steep barranco (fig trees are evident here)then up the other side eventually getting to the high point on this walk where we stop for lunch.
The path crosses the barranco again and descends under massive cliffs then through agricultural land back to Las Vegas. This is a popular Tenerife Guided Walk
Short Description: This walk starts and finishes in the beautiful village of vilaflor which is the highest town in Spain.
Leaving Vilaflor we use good steep tracks and paths for about one and a half hours where we reach the circular part of the walk. Here we can go either clockwise or anti-clockwise both directions passing above the majestic Pumice Sculptures.
There are two good viewpoints of the landscape below where lunch can be had. Throughout the walk there are plenty of views of the high mountains and the coast far below. On returning to Vilaflor we visit a local tapas bar for refreshments.
This is a very interesting Tenerife Guided Walk
Short Description: An excellent introduction to volcanic landscapes demonstrating the raw power of the earth. During the walk there are some steep ascents/descents and exposed sections whilst traversing the volcano rims.
Views of Mount Teide and Pico Viejo are magnificent. We also feel the extent of being in a desolate landscape where nothing much exists in this hostile environment. This is one of the most popular Tenerife Guided Walk
Short Description: Much of this walk is above 2000 m which adds to the toughness of this walk. We start at the car park at 2200 m and climb quickly for about 1 hour to reach the Caldera Rim.
Here and for the rest of the walk mountain and coastal scenery abounds. We then follow an undulating trail near the edge of the steep Caldera Rim, in places there are some exciting scramble sections.
Once past the the round dome of Sombero de Chasna we descend on a pleasant path through the pine forest to finish at a BBQ Park. This is a very interesting Tenerife Guided Walk
This circular walk takes in the magnificent Barranco de Tagara. Following steep tracks and paths we wind our way up the hillside until we reach the Casa de Tagara. From here we enter the barranco proper.
Our path is steep down steps into the heart of the valley. Here we need to take stock and sense the “power of the Lord” in creating such a spectacular place.
All around us there are flowers everywhere and on the steep slopes fine old specimens of Canary Pine. Skirting high slopes our path eventually turns downhill back to the start. This is a very interesting Tenerife Guided Walks
Starting in Santiago del Teide we climb quickly for about an hour and this is where we have fine views of the Masca valley.
We then circum navigate the hillside to reach a track that leads into the laurel forest. Following a ridge down towards Erjos where we follow a track that takes us to the “Lakes”more than 2 depending on the season.
There we can see wild ducks. Then we track back to the finish. Another very interesting Tenerife Guided Walk
Short Description: We start and finish in Adeje, where the ascent and descent routes are steep rugged paths each path taking around 2 hours.
The top section of the ascent is in a steep South facing barranco with majestic views all around, a good head for heights may be required for this walk.
The route then flattens through farmland where we sit and have lunch. Then into the forest our route undulates up and down several barrancos ending at a viewpoint offering superb scenery.
Then descending steeply to our finishing point. This is one of the most popular Tenerife Guided Walks
