The Fortress of Sagunto Castle
Sagunto Castle is a fortress overlooking the town of Sagunto, near Valencia in Spain During the Islamic period the castle was known as Murbitar and Morvedre
Castillo de Sagunto Sagunto Castle
Located on the hill and with a length close to one kilometre.
It is an Andalusian fortress from the 11th century, although it currently preserves walls from different periods and styles, with Iberian, Roman, medieval and modern remains inside, corresponding to the different cultures that settled there.
It is divided into squares or independent enclosures and inside is the “Epigraphic Antiquarium” with samples of Latin, Iberian and Hebrew epigraphy.
Sagunto Castle
Castle was declared a National Monument in 1931.
Visiting hours: (October to March): Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
(April to September): Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays and holidays: from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed Monday.
