Costa Brava – The spectacular, rugged coast of Spain

The Costa Brava is located in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, covering the coastal towns and villages of the beautiful province of Girona in Catalonia.

Many who do not known the region, think only of built up resorts such as Lloret de Mar and Blanes.

The truth however, is that the Costa Brava is home to some of the most delightful towns, villages and beaches in Spain.

The Costa Brava has an intricate coastline of over 300 kilometres washed by the Mediterranean Sea, and backed by the high Pyrenees.

It is a diverse region of extraordinary natural beauty and has a very deep artistic and historical heritage.

Campsites Costa Brava The Wild Coast. Campsites Costa Brava

Costa Brava “Wild” or “Rough Coast” is a coastal region of northeastern Spain, of Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà and Selva, in the province of Girona. The Costa Brava stretches from Blanes, 60 km (37 mi) northeast of Barcelona, to the French border.

In the 1950s, the Costa Brava was identified by the Spanish government and local entrepreneurs as being suitable for substantial development as a holiday destination, mainly for package holiday tourists from Northern Europe and especially, the United Kingdom and France.

The combination of a very good summer climate, nature, excellent beaches and a favourable foreign exchange rate, which made Spain a relatively inexpensive tourist destination, was exploited by the construction of large numbers of hotels and apartments in such seaside resorts as Blanes, Tossa de Mar, and Lloret de Mar.

Tourism rapidly took over from fishing as the principal business of the area.       The Costa Brava is home to a fine array of beaches, from lively upscale resorts to small and untouched coves and bays.

Whether you are travelling as a couple looking for an escape, a group looking for some lively crowds, or a family that needs the convenience of facilities, there is somewhere just right amongst the beaches in Costa Brava.  Campsites Costa Brava   spain-info Costa Brava for large villas, Costa Brava  for large parties, spain-info Costa Brava  for large wedding parties, spain-info Costa Brava Camp Sites reunions, spain-info Costa Brava Camp Sites for any special gatherings, spain-info Costa Brava  for school reunions Campsites Costa Brava
