Most Amazing Golf Courses of the World: Costa Teguise, Canary Islands

Costa Teguise Golf Course lies under the constant vigil of an extinct volcano.

For the Canary Islands, this is a very old golf course.

It was designed by the Briton John Harris and opened in 1978.

The only golf course on Lanzarote is like an oasis in the middle of a sparse volcanic landscape.

The fairways and greens seem like spots of paint on the black and brown lava desert.

It is in this contrast between the thick green and the monotonous rocks where the particular appeal of this course can be found.

The many old palm trees underline the unforgettable atmosphere.

Island of Lanzarote

The Island of Lanzarote has many hidden qualities and whether you want to explore them all or just have a very quiet holiday then Lanzarote is for you as you can have whatever type of holiday you wish to have on this Island. If you are adventurous there are lots of sports and activities and excursions for you to try. If you would like peace and quiet then you can either lie around the pool or at the sea front and enjoy your own space. Lanzarote has a little bit of something for everybody.

HARIA TOWN Lanzarote

The municipality of Haría extends over the north of Lanzarote, and it is here that the highest mountains above sea level are to be found. It is noted for its fertility, as is in particular the valley of Haría, where Finca La Crucita is situated.

Away from tourist development, Haría reveals itself as as an oasis amongst the general tone of aridity which is so characteristic of the rest of the island. For this reason it is known for its Valley of Ten Thousand Palm Trees, due to the presence of these species, many of which are over a hundred years old. Procedures have been undertaken to delar e the old town centre as a Historic and Artistic Site.

Haria Lanzarote A visit to the tree-lined square Plaza de León y Castillo is a must. This is the very nerve-centre of the village and the Museum of Sacred Art is to be found there. The main road north leads to Guinate from which there is a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the group of islets situated to the north of the island.

We recommend seeing the agrarian countryside on route between Guinate and Órzola, a fishing village which connects Lanzarote to the nearby island of La Graciosa.

BEACHES

Playa Blancas beaches are small but perfectly formed and benefit from excellent nearby amenities such as the shops, bars and restaurants. Three beaches are within a few minutes walk from our villa, Playa Blanca, Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada. The latter is where you will find an array of watersports on offer.

Papagayo beaches are world famous and are only a 10 minute drive or taxi ride away. This is a national park made up of several beautiful beaches sand coves where you can always find a private spot. The water is crystal clear and offers excellent bathing.

Around the island there are many excellent beaches though the ones at Playa Blanca are undoubtedly the best.
