Seville Spain

Seville is the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain.

It is situated on the plain of the River Guadalquivir, with an average elevation of 23 feet above sea level.

The population of the city of Seville is just over 700,000. The population of the metropolitan area is 1.5 million, ranking as the fourth largest metropolitan area of Spain.

The video begins at the Plaza de España, one of Seville’s most easily recognized buildings and the epitome of the Moorish Revival in Spanish architecture.

Next it is into the old quarter of the city where our first stop was the Royal Alcázar, a royal palace which was originally a Moorish fort.

Next we walk to The Cathedral of Seville which is the largest Gothic cathedral and the fourth largest Christian church in the world.

Our walk continues through the narrow streets of the Santa Cruz district.

We were treated to flemenco music and dance during our lunch at the Macarena Hotel.

After lunch I walk around the Parliament building of the autonomous community of Andalucía which was across the street from the hotel.

It was back on the bus after lunch as we drive past the El Alamillo Bridge and bull ring as we drive out of town.

Seville Markets

Every Thursday, the central thoroughfare of the Feria barrio (unsurprisingly called Calle Feria) comes alive with Seville’s largest and most colourful flea market
